Hello from Great Amwell and District!

GREAT AMWELL & DISTRICT CATS PROTECTION ARE NOW IN A STATE OF EMERGENCY DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS.

WE ARE UNABLE TO TAKE IN ANY ABANDONED, STRAYS OR UNWANTED CATS OR KITTENS.

WE CURRENTLY HAVE APPROXIMATELY 60 CATS AND KITTENS DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR HOMES.  EACH CAT COSTS AROUND £2 A DAY TO FEED.  SOME OF OUR CATS NEED MEDICAL TREATMENT AND WE ARE DETERMIND NOT TO LET THESE CATS SUFFER.

GREAT AMWELL & DISTRICT CATS PROTECTION ARE COMMITTED TO DO THE BEST FOR THE CATS IN OUR CARE.   PLEASE HELP US TO HELP THESE CATS.

WE REALISE THIS IS A VERY SAD SITUATION AND WE ARE ASKING FOR YOUR HELP.

IF YOU CAN HELP US IN ANY WAY PLEASE CALL DI ON 01992 467826.  THANK YOU

The Great Amwell and District branch of Cats Protection has been in existence since 1947, and last year we celebrated our 60th Anniversary!!

Initially it was the aim of the late Miss Harvey, daughter of the Vicar of Great Amwell Church, to care for stray cats and kittens in the Parish area.

Nowadays, we cover a much bigger area, but in her memory we still operate under our original name, as the Great Amwell and District Branch of Cats Protection. We currently cover the following Postcodes:

SG11 - SG14

EN10 - EN11

Like all the local branches, we share the Charity's missions and goals:

It is Cats Protection mission to help unwanted and abandoned felines, rehabilitating and rehoming them where possible, but the work doesn’t stop there!

We also seek to alleviate the problem of unwanted cats, by offering information and advice about responsible cat ownership and promoting neutering as the only effective solution.

Our mission is based upon the charity’s three key aims:

  • To help stray and unwanted cats and kittens, rehabilitating and rehoming them where possible
  • To encourage the neutering of all cats and kittens not required for breeding
  • To inform the public about the care of cats and kittens
